ROTOR looks towards Asia with Wheeltop

This week, ROTOR Bike Components, the Spanish manufacturer of transmission components for competition bicycles, has reached an agreement with the Chinese company Lanxi Wheeltop Cycling for taking on a minority stake of the Spanish company aiming to join forces in a Spanish-Chinese consortium that allows both companies to compete on a global scale and be more competitive thanks to the multiple synergies that exist between both companies. Furthermore, with this agreement, Wheeltop becomes a ROTOR Official Distributor for the Asian continent, as Rotor will do, with some of Wheeltop's products through its Spanish subsidiary Bikemotiv.

ROTOR has, not without difficulty alike the rest of the sector, overcome the weakness of a market that has lasted more than two years and is now beginning to stabilize. In the meanwhile, company ownership alongside the management team has strived in search for an industrial partner that will allow it to gain competitiveness in a market controlled by chiefly two companies and look to the Asian continent where greater growth occurs.

“…It has not been an easy path, but the agreement with Wheeltop represents a combination of business and industrial integration, which will allow us to gain efficiencies and market share, which owing to our current size, was more difficult for us to achieve alone, even worst in the current context…”, declares Jose Luis García-Alegre, CEO of ROTOR

Song Fujiang, President of Wheeltop, has stated “…Excitement to be part of the Spanish company and continue building a leading and innovative brand with thousands of fans around the world, which has been achieving success for 30 years in highest demanding competitions…”
