Cysclist Alex Dowsett

A short bio of who you are and your career so far

I´m a pro cyclist with severe Haemophilia, I´m a team player within a team and can also achieve results myself. Mainly in time trial as well as solo breakaways. I´ve taken on the hour record twice, once resulting in a success and once as a failure but with a distance of 54.555km. My charity Little Bleeders helps use my story to inspire young haemophiliacs to achieve more than they thought possible.

Three greatest achievements in his career

  • Hour Record
  • Little Bleeders
  • 2x Giro stage wins

To know more about Alex Dowsett:

How did you start cycling?: My dad started mountain biking with his friends when I was 9, I joined them when I was 11 then one of the guys raced on the road and I asked at 13 years old to have a go on a road bike. I did a time trial a week later ad that was the star of the journey!

What was the most important race you´ve done to date?: The hour record in 2021 because of the awareness and fundraising it bought to Haemophilia.

What is you pre-race ritual?: No ritual.

What do you think about while cycling?: Aerodynamics mostly, how to go faster with minimal effort increase.

What is your go-to training meal?: Chicken and rice, dull but effective.

How do you recover after a tough race or training ride?: Playing with my daugther over a recovery shake.

Apart from endurance sports, what is your passion?: Motor racing, family and haemophilia.

What´s is your favorite ROTOR component and why?: Aldhu cranks as they´re super versatile.

If you were not a cyclist, what would you have been?: I´d like to think a racing driver like my father, but likely I would´ve gone to uni to stuff aeronautical engineering.
