Which ROTOR power meter do you need?

Which ROTOR power meter is suitable for your requirements?

At ROTOR we are specialists in power meters. Our huge variety of cranks, together with our conventional bottom bracket and chainrings systems, such as successful Q RINGS®, makes it easy for you to find the power meter that best suits your needs. 2INpower, INpower or INspider are systems compatible with practically any type of cycling modality and all of them are compatible with the ROTOR Power app so that you can control all your parameters through your Smartphone.

Power meters are an ideal tool that allow you to obtain, among other things, data of the watts that you apply in each pedal stroke, the percentage of force and watts with respect to one leg or another, the pedaling cadence, the force applied during the complete pedal cycle and of course all the values associated with a standard speedometer, depending on the model.

ROTOR 2INpower (road and mountain)

2INpower is one of the most sophisticated power meters on the market and is currently used by some of the best professional teams. The integrated power measurement technology of the crankset allows high-speed and precision data logging through 4 sets of gauges opposed to each other, to measure the left and right leg independently.

For this reason, unlike the INpower system, balance programming is not needed, since we will have all the data of each leg independently and we will know in what percentages we work in both. You will see that this balance option does not appear in the software when you connect a 2INpower system.

One of the most important points of the advanced training mode with the 2INpower is that the software will allow us to choose which parameter we want to see in the graphs. On the one hand, you can choose between the force (or torque) exerted by the left leg during the complete pedaling cycle. This would be the same information that the INpower system allows you to view.

In addition, with the 2INpower system you can also visualize the force exerted by the right leg or that exerted by both legs at the same time. In this case, if the total force is selected, what happens with each leg independently is not seen graphically. In this way, to know how much to pull or not in the upward half cycle with each leg, you should look at the Torque Effectiveness data for the left and right, something that graphically shows how round the pedaling is, how accentuated the effect is from a neutral point, or what the orientation of the pedal stroke is.

ROTOR INpower (road and mountain)

The INpower system is available for any ROTOR crank with a 30mm axle and is compatible with any type of chainring or combination of chainrings due to its direct DM (Direct Mount) fitment.

In the case of INpower, which is capable of measuring the watts generated only by the left leg, we will be able to obtain, through the software in the advanced training mode, the graphs belonging to said left leg. In the pedaling graph we will be able to observe both the force applied in the downward half cycle of the pedal stroke, as well as the applied force or resistance, depending on whether it is pulled more or less upward, during the upward half cycle stage of the pedal stroke. This will allow the user to know their way of pedaling with that leg and if they should work or not especially in the uphill half cycle.

In addition, the INpower power meter system will allow you to know the balance between the left and right legs, since the software allows you to modify said balance in the “Settings” section. The balance that comes by default is 50% power for each leg, if different, the power meter multiplies the corresponding factor assigned, instead of multiplying by 2 the power made by the left leg.

ROTOR INspider (road and mountain)

ROTOR INspider is one of the models that is most in demand lately, not only for its full compatibility with road and mountain crank models, but also for its easy installation. The power meter is built into the spider that fits directly onto the cranks and features a 4-point chainring design with a 110mm BCD.

This way, the system is compatible with all Q RINGS® oval chainrings and all ROTOR cranks and single or double chainring systems, both for road, MTB or gravel. INspider integrates a rechargeable battery with watertight electronics and a strong waterproof seal to measure the power from inside the spider itself. Displays combined left and right crank data to accurately record power, cadence, adding valuable data from TORQUE 360, Optimal Chainring Angle (OCA) and Optimal Chainring Position Recommendation (OCP).

The INspider power meter, uses a standard AAA battery installed inside the axle, which lasts around 300 hours.

Balance: No.
Power and cadence: Yes.
Torque effectiveness and pedaling smoothness: Yes.
Torque 360: Yes.

Regardless of the model that best suits your needs, you can connect all of them to the ROTOR Power App, where the software will show us the angle at which the total effort of each pedal stroke is centered. This is known as OCA (Optimum Chainring Angle), which correlates with an OCP (Optimum Chainring Position) potion of the Q RINGS® oval chainrings to tell you how to orient the oval chainrings to get the most out of them according to your pedaling style.
